El Pote Españio
El Pote Español has been serving the finest Castillian Spanish food for over 22 years! This is a restaurant in the "old world style," offering traditional cuisine, as well as courteous and professional service. El Pote gives an intimate, cozy dining experience you won't forget!
The decor is classic. Wood paneled walls, yellow lamps, and a wonderfully arched dining room give way to the white stone mural that lies against the back wall of the restaurant. This casual setting evokes a certain charm that has kept diners returning year after year.
To add to the equation, El Pote Espanol boasts an owner/Chef that was classically trained in Spain. Chef Jose Larino’s authentic cooking has been impressively consistent over the years, which makes this place one of the more reliable mainstays on the East Side. Paella Valencia, a classical chicken, seafood, and rice dish along with the Paella Marinera - Spanish rice, seafood, and lobster are two house specials for which regulars rave. The Rack of Lamb, For Two, and the One Stuffed Lobster will be sure to impress as well. "Just about everyone comes here for the wonderful, down-home Spanish food, at down-home prices; try the rack of lamb or New York's best paella...whatever your choice, you won't be disappointed" --Zagat Survey
El Quijote
El Quijote appears untouched by time. While seafood remains the most popular choice on the massive menu, they know their steak here, too. Try the tapa of filet mignon tips, sizzling in a frying pan, or the special appetizer combo for two. Lobster in green sauce, like everything else, is gigante. (Be sure to spoon the extra-garlicky salsa over everything in sight.) Paella, available four different ways, is also a good choice for the table. If, by some miracle, you’re able to squeeze anything else into your stomach at meal’s end, the flan is fantástico.
Located next to the Chelsea Hotel, El Quijote offers exquisite Cuisine from the best of Spain since 1930. Located in the Chelsea district of New York, it offers the most authentic Spanish cuisine you'll find in New York city, at very reasonable prices.
Accesit Restaurant Award. The above is a prize given to El Quijote Restaurant by the Minister of Spain Esmo SR. D. Miguel Arias Canete on November 18, 2002, declaring that El Quijote is the best Spanish restaurant of any country in the world outside of Spain.
Traditional menu favorites include mejillones, paella, chulleta and gambas. Add to the mix the restaurant's authentic Spanish décor, Cervantes mural and well-dressed waitstaff, and it's easy to see why this is one of Chelsea's most carefully guarded secrets.
Entire families enjoy themselves here, and the portions are overwhelming. Make sure you try the sangria.
